Why are certain locks and doors more expensive to open?

There are numerous opening strategies, which means that if someone is locked out, they can be reintroduced in a variety of ways.

While certain locks, such as basic euro cylinders, are quick and easy to open, others are difficult and take longer.

Mortice Locks Unlocking

Certain locksmiths may charge a premium to unlock a mortice lock, as they can take longer to open than rim or euro locks in some instances.

UPVC/Composite Door Unlocking

While a basic cylinder lock on an uPVC door may be simple to unlock, high security anti-snap locks typically require specialised tools and training, which may increase the cost of the work.

Unlocking a Wooden Door

Most wooden doors are straightforward to unlock, however some may have two security locks. If this is the case, opening two locks is more expensive, and keep in mind that if you do damage the locks, you will also require replacement locks.

Cost of Replacing a Lost Key

The cost of replacing keys is entirely dependent on the number of locks that need to be replaced in the residence. For security reasons, the majority of locksmiths recommend replacing the lock if you lose your key.

If the locks on your home or business are keyed alike, you would need to replace each lock.

Repairing A Lock

The cost of repairing a malfunctioning or damaged door or window lock ranges from £45 for an internal door lock to £65 for a front or back door lock. The cost of repairing a lock is determined by the amount of time required to repair the lock, the number of replacement components required, and the type of lock being repaired.
